"One of the major limitations in increasing power output from a CooperS engine is the charge temperature exiting the standard intercooler, especially with a tuned engine where this can easily exceed 126degrees C. At this temperature the ignition will automatically retard to avoid onset of detonation (which could potentially destroy the engine).
With a tuned engine with higher boost, one way to overcome this is to fit a larger and more efficient intercooler. With this charge cooler unit, two charge cooler elements have been added to further increase the cooling effect. The water in these charge coolers is cooled further with the addition of two very thin radiators placed directly in the air stream behind the front grill. This additional cooling source allows for a spectacular reduction in intake temperature and an immediate boost in power.

Extensive testing using a standard intercooler and this charge cooler unit on the CooperS engine has proved beyond doubt that this unit will provide an increase in power of approx 12%, and an increase in torque of approx 20%. See images above (at bottom) of before and after testing on our Dyno.
Coupled with any other engine modifications on a standard CooperS engine can see figures in excess of this being reached. "
